Examples of tenses and their usage:

In general, simple tenses relate to a point in time, continuous tenses relate to a period of time; perfect tenses relate to a sequence of events, such as a happening and it's result.

The -ing myth: Please note thaat the -ing suffix does not change the tense; it merely indicates that a verb is being used in its participle form.
